Fresh off my tour with Royal Caribbean International this past month, it was a coincidence that this trailer was released since Sade's music has always been my official soundtrack for traveling the world. Can't wait for the album....

DJ GETLIVE'S PICK OF THE WEEK

Since it's the first PICK OF THE WEEK for the new year, and the new decade, let's set things off with the latest from the hip hop duo known as Hi-Tek & Talib Kweli, aka REFLECTION ETERNAL, with their newest single, "Just Begun," featuring a lethal lineup of guest appearances, with Jay Electronica, J.Cole, & Mos Def.
The track was one of the others premiered by Just Blaze during the infamous Jay Electronica show on Shade 45, when Exhibit C premiered. And like Exhibit C, an official wasn't released until the end of 09 on Christmas Eve, but the record had already created a major buzz prior to its official release. This is the lead single off Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek's highly anticipated album set to drop February 2010, entitled "Revolutions Per Minute." Just like last week's post, this one is dedicated to the real hip-hop heads out there, so IMS is gonna bring it to you and put the STAMP OF APPROVAL on it.

DJ GETLIVE'S PICK OF THE WEEK
Even though this record has been out for a couple of weeks already, the general public still isn't up on this week's PICK OF THE WEEK, and alot of hip hop aficionados and street cats still aren't familiar with who Jay Electronica is, but the world needs to know.

Originally from Magnolia Projects, New Orleans, by way of Atl, Philly, Bmore, DC, Denver, and Detroit, the enigma known as Jay Electronica, has created a crazy buzz without even putting out an official album. Most notably known as the father of Erykah Badu's, latest child, Jay Electronica has attained an myth-like status, due to the hype surrounding him from the music which he has released through the internet, such as "Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (the Pledge)", which he released on his MySpace page in 2007. The project was 15 minutes of continuous music without drums, built from Jon Brion's soundtrack for "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." This and numerous other projects, singles, EP's, along with his enigmatic nature, have caused him to be talked about more as a myth or urban legend, as opposed to a rapper. Despite the hype, Jay's abstract lyricism and rhyming style, have drawn comparisons of him to Nas and Pharoahe Monch.
The hype continued when this past Fall, a Just Blaze premiere of the epic Exhibit C track, hit the internets. The track was originally premiered by Just Blaze on a radio show, where almost immediately the track was ripped and spread throughout the internet via the blogs. The record created such a huge buzz, that DJs were playing the radio rip, even without an official release. Eventually the single was finally released on iTunes on December 16th, receiving a tremendous response from hip-hop heads everywhere. Despite the real heads knowing, there are still some non-believers, so you know IMS had to bring you the track and put the STAMP OF APPROVAL on it.
